Greenbreaking of Tiger Lane Public Green Space Project

June 16, 2010

As the last stop before grand openings and ribbon cuttings, groundbreakings are often somewhat perfunctory.  To the contrary, the “Greenbreaking” for Tiger Lane on June 16 strayed away from the norm by replacing golden shovels with light green rakes and grass seeds.  These slightly varied tools – as well as the Mayor’s arrival on a Hybrid city bus – underscored the story unfolding at the Fairgrounds where acres of green space are being created as the entrance to this historic location.

Tiger Lane will see its first public use during September’s Southern Heritage Classic when the Jackson State Tigers will face off against the Tennessee State Tigers at the Liberty Bowl.  Click to Read more about the event.
