Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital: A New Chapter in an Amazing Children’s Story
Mayor Wharton along with his staff had the fortunate opportunity of touring the newly constructed Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital before its grand opening on June 15, 2010. The Mayor was given a personally guided tour by hospital President and CEO Meri Armour, M.S.N., M.B.A. and Dave Rosenbaum, Vice President of Building Projects.
The $340-million, 610,000-square-foot hospital will double Le Bonheur’s current space for patient care, research and teaching. The new hospital is designed to serve the children of our area for the next 50 years and beyond. Everything from interior design to state-of-the-art technology is focused on one thing – providing exceptional care for children. The hospital has new and amazing features including a parent kitchen, sibling playrooms, bathtubs in each patient room and features one of the largest displays of public art in the Mid South. All artwork can be attributed to a local artist or one with ties to our community.
This hospital is a great addition to the current medical center landscape and also contributes greatly to the quality of life of our residents, especially our children.
