September 22, 2010
Flanked by the University of Memphis Marching Band, the University’s cheerleaders, and the U of M mascot, Pouncer, Mayor A C Wharton led the evening groundbreaking ceremony for Tiger Lane with the Memphis City Council and leading representatives of the Southern Heritage Classic, the University of Memphis, and the Autozone Liberty Bowl. This project was completed in a record time of 90 days and has, since its opening, enjoyed the success of the 2010 Southern Heritage Classic on September 11th and the Tigers’ first home game – and win – over Middle Tennessee State University.

The new bike path takes my breath away. It is one of those types of features in a city that makes you feel really good about living somewhere. The bike path was finished in record time and offers Memphians a chance to enjoy their city, have a cheaper, greener transportation alternative, and maybe even get a little healthier. THANK YOU Mayor Wharton!!
How many 1,000′s of children are now deprived their park, their fairground, many other family bonding events so a few people can enjoy a couple of minutes of pretty trees?
How many 100′s of people have lost their jobs so you could have your pretty trees?
How many millions of dollars, in community business is now being lost for your pretty trees?
How much is local taxes going to go up to pay for your pretty trees and lighting?
Anyone who enjoys Tiger Lane must really enjoy taking candy from babies for that is what you have truly done- STEAL FUTURE MEMORIES FROM 1,000′S OF CHILDREN! HOW MANY OF YOU HAVE PLEASANT MEMORIES FROM VISITING LIBERTY LAND, THE FAIR, THE FLEA MARKET, AND MANY OTHER FAIRGROUND EVENTS? YOU HAVE STOLEN THESE PLEASANT MEMORIES FROM MEMPHIS CHILDREN MERELY TO HAVE A FEW MOMENTS FOR YOUR PRETTY TREES!
Care to prove me wrong?
